GP running late?

There may be many reasons why your GP is running late. We allocate 15 minutes to each patient for a GP slot but sometimes this is not enough time. When a GP of running late, we will be most likely be able to give you good reason. Here are a few common reasons why GP's tend to run late.

  • Patients come to a single appointment with many problems

This is probably one of the most common reasons that doctor will run late. The 15 minutes allocated to your appointment is usually only enough time for the GP to deal with a single problem. For some problems more time may be needed. If you feel you will need to spend more than 15 minutes with the GP or have more than one issue to discuss, please book a double appointment (a 30 minute slot) so the GP can deal with your issues adequately.

  • Patients arriving late for their appointment

Please try to arrive on time for your appointment. Being late for your appointment has a knock on effect therefore every patient after you will also be seen late. If you are late it is not guaranteed we will still be able to see you or we may offer you to be seen at the end of surgery.

  • Other family members or friends wishing to be seen at the same time

Please make sure you book one appointment per person. If you are coming to the practice with someone who also wants to be seen, please ask the receptionist in advance to see if it would be possible for you to book two apppointments together.

  • Emergencies

When an emergency occur, we ask for your understanding and empathy. In a GP practice unpredictable, inevitable and unavoidable emergencies occur. This could range from emergency home visits, consultations and telephone calls.
