Sleights and Sandsend Medical Practice will be closed on Tuesday 15th May 2018 from 1pm. We will reopen as normal on Wednesday 16th.

Welcome to Sleights and Sandsend Medical Practice

The practices formed as a result of a merger in April 2011. There are two surgeries, a main surgery in Sleights and a branch surgery in Sandsend.  Both of the surgeries carry on the traditions and philosophies of the two previous seperate practices which have been serving the area for many years.  Although both  of the practices have been around since the early days of the NHS, the current Churchfield Surgery was purpose built over 25 years ago while the branch surgery in Sandsend has been in operation for more than 30 years, however this has recently been redeveloped in 2016. The Practice is proud to serve Sleights and Sandsend as well as Whitby and its surrounding villages. In October 2016, the CQC rated the practice as outstanding. You can read the full report in the 'documents' tab.

m We encourange and empower patients to take control of their own wellbeing.

m We care for the 'whole person' and treat people as individuals.

m We listen to our patients.

m We treat patients with respect, compassion, honesty, dignity and protect

the information they share with us. We care about this community and work

with a variety of organisations to improve the help and well-being of the

       community.

m We are reducing the carbon costs of the practice

m We value each others contribution as a team. We support each other

and encourage each member of the team to develop in response to their

       own and the practices needs.

m We acknowledge our limitations, making these a basis for an ongoing

process of  learning and growth. When we make a mistake we openly

evaluate it, learn from it and make improvements to prevent it happening

       again.

m Whatever our personal beliefs may be, as a practice we have no religious

       or party political affiliation.

Sleights and Sandsend Surgery both have parking available. Sleights surgery has its own car park. Sandsend Surgery has an area to the left of the surgery for patients to park, this is also a parking area for the public and can sometimes be full. However, you can park along the roadside in the designated parking areas, this is free in the winter but in the summer months, this is 20p for the first hour. We appreciate the difficulty with parking at the Sandsend Surgery and we are currently trying to resolve this problem. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Wheelchair access is available at both surgeries. Sleights surgery also has a disabled parking space in the car park. Please ask the staff if you need any help. We can also assist patients who are visually/hearing impaire and need help communicating with us. For example british sign language and large print. We are currently working on adapting this website which will also help communicate with those patients.
